How do I know what type of Stairlift I need?

Staircases are put into 2 main categories, straight or curved, depending on the rail that is required for your stairlift. If you have a straight set of stairs you will need a straight stairlift. If your staircase has any bends, curves or corners you will need a curved stair lift. If you are unsure please feel free to call one of our friendly engineers to come out for a free survey and they will be able to advise you.

How much do stairlifts cost?

Stairlifts come in a variety of shapes and sizes to fit your staircases. As a guide, our Reconditioned Stairlifts start from £495, New Straight Stairlifts start from just £1395 and New Curved Stairlifts start from just £2995. We also offer stairlift rental if you only need a stairlift for a short period of time.

How do stairlifts work?

Most stairlifts are made up of three main components: a rail, a carriage and a seat. The carriage of the stairlift contains the motor which powers the lift up and down the rail or track. The stairlift seat simply sits on top of the carriage and has the controls in the arms to safely send the stairlift up or down.

Can stairlifts go round corners?

Yes, curved stairlifts are made to fit your staircase and can tackle a range of bends

Are stairlifts noisy?

Battery run stairlifts use around 24 volts to power an electric motor; this makes them quiet and energy efficient to use. Your new stairlift will be quiet enough to use day and night without disturbing anyone else in the house.

How long does installation take?

The majority of stairlifts can be fitted in just a few hours with the minimum of disruption. As our stairlifts are fitted directly to the stair treads and not the wall the process becomes very quick and simple. A curved stairlift takes a little bit longer than a straight stairlift but can still be fitted within a day.

If I order a stairlift, how long until it can be fitted?

If you order a straight stairlift we will usually have it in stock and could even fit it the next day depending on the engineers diaries. If you require a curved stairlift we will have to order this in especially for you so that it fits your exact measurements, therefore installation time would usually be 14 to 28 days.

What kind of warranty is available on the stairlifts?

All our new stairlifts have at least a 12 months warranty. We also offer service contracts which can be purchased for all new lifts and offer that extra peace of mind. For more information on our service contracts please click here.

Can other people still use the stairs if a stairlift is fitted?

Yes. The stairlifts have a folding seat, footrest and arms, so when it's not in use it tucks neatly against the wall. It will also be parked at the top or bottom of the staircase allowing full access to the stair way.

If I have a narrow staircase will a stairlift still fit?

We have a wide variety of stairlifts which can accommodate the majority of staircases. We offer a FREE no obligation quote where the engineer will be able to assess the suitability of your staircase.

What happens if I am downstairs and the stairlift is at the top of the staircase?

This can occur if more than one person uses the stairlift. However, there is an easy solution. Most stairlifts come with 2 remote control handsets one at the top of the stairs and one at the bottom of the staircase so the lift can be called at the press of a button.
